Mitsubishi Repair: Check Engine Light, auto zone, timing belt

Question
I have a maintence question. I had a major tune up to my 98 mirage. New timing belt, cleaned out the fuel injection, etc. Now, my check engine light is on? I have 143,000 miles on it. Does it matter?

Answer
Your engine light comes on when there is something wrong! So Yes it matters!  Take it to Auto Zone and run a scan on the computer of your car, auto zone will test it FREE with a device called and Obd2 read that spits out codes. These codes can tell you why your engine light is on. Make sure the auto zone guy shows you the code(s) and shows you his little book of codes and the meanings of them! If you changed timing belt, whoever did the job might have not set the timing right..and this is bad for your car..go to Auto Zone ASAP for that scan..the code(s) will help you pinpoint the problem, might be something totaly not even related to tune up also, such as a bad sensor.

Good Luck!
