Question
Why does my check engine light constantly stay on? Also, my radio only works for 1 or 2 days a month then it just wont turn on. Can the problem be the radio or a short?

Answer
Kerry,
Your check engine light (CEL) is on because your car's computer is detecting a problem with a sensor, ignition component, fuel component, or emissions component.  You will need to take your car to a mechanic so they can read the trouble codes from your car's computer with a scan tool.  They will be able to tell you why the CEL came on.  But if you have an AutoZone store in your area, they can check your car's computer for free!  Just go in and tell them your CEL is on, and they will go out and scan it for you and tell you what's wrong.

It's hard to guess what could be wrong with your radio.  I would think the power supply inside of it is burnt out.  You may want to consider taking your car to a car audio shop to get a new radio installed.  Stores like Circuit City and Best Buy both offer good deals on car stereos and many times offer free installation.
Good luck!
