Mitsubishi Repair: harmonic balancer bolt, mitsubishi eclipse, lookup software

Question
1996 mitsubishi eclipse non turbo 2.o L.  I stripped out the crank bolt for the harmonic balancer, and I'm going to re-tap the threads, but I cant find the pitch specs. for the crank bolt. I called the dealer, and their books dont give a spec for that. I'm guessing it is probably somewherre around a 12x1.25, or 1.5 mm bolt but I'm not sure. Do you have any idea?

Answer
Craig,
Unfortuntely, none of my factory manuals list the bolt and thread sizes.  Not even the Mitsubishi parts lookup software shows it.  You can always order a new bolt from Mitsubishi, then take the bolt to a local hardward store or even auto store, and they have bolt and thread guides you can compare that new bolt to.  Once your find a guide that fits the bolt, the label on the guide will tell you size and pitch of the threads.  I'd hate to have you guess at the size and tap it to the wrong size; especially for something as critical as a crank bolt.
Good luck!
