Mitsubishi Repair: warning light service engine soon, service engine soon light, daniel daniel


Question
today it was raining allot and when i drove thrue some water suddenly my "service engine soon" light went on and stayed on. it's driving  the same as it did before only the engine is running a little higher and when my car is in drive but im standing still the engine makes more noise then before but if i put the car in "N" it's perfect and you don't hear the noice at all... can i drive with the car for a couple of days or should i send it to the shop imediately? thanks in advance! daniel

If your car was made in 1996 or later, you can take your car to a local AutoZone store, and they can read your car's computer for free and tell you what the problem is.  And depending on year, make, and model of your car, you can find this out for on your own.

Driving through standing water can cause problems to various components of your car.  Typically, the check engine light will come on if the computer detects a problem with an ignition, timing, or emmissions item on your car.  You should be ok to drive your car for a couple of days, but definitely have your car checked out when you get the chance.
