Mitsubishi Repair: Whistling, air intake hose, eclipse gt

Question
I have a 2000 Mits Eclipse gt automatic. I have noticed that a whistling noise has been coming from my engine only when I take my foot off the gas pedal (between 40 and 30 mph.) The noise goes away as soon as I put my foot on the gas, or slow down below 30 mph.

Do you know what the problem is?

Thanks

Answer
Steve,
The whistling may be due to a loose, leaking, or disconnected air intake hose.  You should also inspect and clean out your throttle body.  These are the most common causes of whistling, but if could also be due to air simply finding it's way under your hood while you're driving.  Make sure the hood is closing and locking completely, and make sure there is nothing sticking between the hood and the frame.
Good luck!
