Hey anthony if you can come up with an answer i will gurantee to donate to your site, here it is...  about a month ago i was driving down the interstate and my car died, i noticed i had very low oil pressure so automatically i assumed that a sensor had killed my car because of it.  I got the car towed back to my house (could not start it) and took the valve cover off and almost wet my pants- 8 of my 16 rocker arms had been thrown (intake side).  I put the rocker arms back in place, added oil and tried to start it several times but either the lifters or the valve springs are not pushing the rockers up against the camshaft (except of course when the knob is down) they are about 2-3 mm away.  What do i do? Do i need new lifters? new valve springs? Please help Anthony I miss my baby and I'll do anything it takes...

Answer
Paul,
This sounds evident of a timing belt skip.  It's possible your timing belt skipped a few teeth due to a stuck oil pump gear or even a malfunctioning hydraulic tensioner.  If you've driven your car over 60,000 miles since you last had a timing belt change, there's a good chance your balance belt has snapped, your timing belt skipped some teeth, or even your camshaft position sensor is not functioning properly.

You car has an interference engine, and if the timing is off, your pistons will slam into your valves; ruining your cylinder head.  You'll want to set your engine to TDC (if you can) and remove your cylinder head and have it rebuilt and machined. You'll also need to inspect the top of your pistons to see if there is any damage.  And of course, you'll need to replace your balance belt, timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley, head gasket, and even your water pump if you've never replaced it before.  If when you pull the head, you see that head is damaged, it'll be an expensive repair.  I'd love to get a donation, but if you need the money to help with your car repair, I totally understand if you pass on making a donation this time :-)
Good luck!
