Mitsubishi Repair: Engine Stalls until warmed up, fuel pressure regulator, dodge stealth

Question
1992 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo. 5-speed manual.  Problem: Engine cold (mornings). Engine starts and stalls with in 2-3 seconds.  Noticable clicking from behind radio area. After several more attempts can rev engine to 3000rpm. Then engine stalls (clicking from behind radio area).  After 20+ attempts engine starts and runs fine (believe this has to do with engine area/systems warming up). Took car to Dodge and Mitsubishi dealers, no luck.  Car will start when left out in hot sunny day.  Did test, 8am, 80 degrees (engine compartment)start and stall, 11am 86 degrees start and stall, 2pm engine comp 86 degrees (passenger compartment very warm) start and runs fine.   Some senor, etc? associated with heat.  Any ideas?  Dealers are stumped.

Answer
James,
Assuming that the dealers checked the normal items like air filter, fuel filter, alternator, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, battery, starter motor, idle air control motor, fast idle air valve, engine temperature sensor, etc., I will assume there is one thing they didn't check.  This sounds like it may be a problem with your car's computer.  Read this article for further information:

I would hope the dealership mechanics would have checked this, being that you can hear the clicking noise, but they probably overlooked it.  You can remove your ECU yourself and check it out, or bring your car back to one of the dealerships to have them inspect your ECU.  It may need to be replaced.
Good luck!
