Mitsubishi Repair: Rebuilding an engine, mitsubishi eclipse, best route

Question
I want to know around how much it will cost me for the parts to rebuild my engine...my car rand out of oil...cause I know nothing about cars and what do I need to do...I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse Rs automatic 1997...and I don't know where to begin to start building an engine...I just know a mechanic told me that's what needed to happen

Answer
Janis,
You can never truly know what needs to be done on rebuilding the engine until you take apart most the engine.  If your engine ran out of oil, there's a good chance your engine has seized up.  If that's the case, rebuilding your engine is not an option.  When engine parts seize, they phyically get welded together, and trying to fix that is not worth it.

Depending on the severity of your engine, it may be cheaper to simply buy a rebuilt engine and have it installed.  I couldn't even begin to list the parts needed to rebuild an entire engine, especially since I don't know what exactly is wrong.  Find prices (or have your mechanic find prices) for a rebuilt engine that would exactly fit your car.  That would probably be your best route to handle this problem.
Good luck!
