Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 Galant 2.4L Auto Trans, air cond, heater assembly

1996 Galant 2.4L makes a loud ticking noise when the re-circulating botton is off (fresh air) but goes away when the button is on (pushed in / inside air). The sound is coming from the dash behind the glove compartment. It doesn't matter if the fan is off or on of if the air cond is on or not. -- Thanks Tom

If you can hear the ticking when the car is running, but not not moving, that would indicate the noise is coming from somewhere in your heater assembly.  Your mechanic would probably recommend looking into your heater assembly, which would require removing most of your dash.  It's not a difficult process, but can be time consuming.  Unfortunately, it's the only way to access the assembly.
