Mitsubishi Repair: oil pressure gauge stop working, oil pressure gauge, oil gauge

Question
The oil pressure gauge on my 90 Eclipse (2.0, non-turbo, automatic) does not work. When the car was turned on, the needle would zoom over to the "high" side and stay there. We changed the sending unit and now the needle does not move. Can you help?

Answer
Cleo,
Make sure the sending unit is properly tightened into the oil filter bracket.  Also be sure the small wire that connects to the sending unit is attached is making good contact.

If all your connections check out ok, but your oil gauge still does not function, that could indicate your reed switch is not working properly.  The reed switch is the actual switch that moves the needle for the oil gauge on your instrument panel.  You'll want to remove your instrumental panel face plate to see if the needle is still connected to the switch.
Good luck!
