Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sunroof, mitsubishi eclipse, auto parts stores

Question
All of a sudden the sunroof on my son's 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse will not close all of the way [or open all the way for that matter]; in its "most closed" status, the left [drivers] side rear remains elevated slightly and will not close tightly; At the same time it stopped opening more than 3"= at the rear and will not open all of the way.

We have examined it as best as we can without disassembly and we cannot see anything that is obviouls broken or out of alignment. We believe that it is making a "clunk" when we try to open it-a clunk that was not there before.....

Answer
Jay,
Unfortunately, you may need to disassemble the sunroof mechanism in order to find this problem.  The most common cause is if the rail guides come out of alignment or if excess debris builds up in the guide track.  It's hard to inspect the alignment by eye.

There are sevice manuals available at most auto parts stores for your car.  They should reference your factory sunroof and assist you with disassembly information.
Good luck!
