Mitsubishi Repair: car shuts off?, crank angle sensor, mitsubishis

Question
I drive a 92 1.8 Liter non turbo eclipse. and my problem is that i was driving on teh freeway one night no problems or anything then all of a sudden the check engine light came on and i lost all power.. it turned off on me but my headlights worked as did my taillights.. but the engine itself just shut off on me randomly so i had to pull it to the side i lost powersteering likewise with my brakes i think it could be an ECU problem but im unsure. Now it just doesnt want to turn on.. the starter works because i hear it wantint to turn over but something is preventing it.

Answer
Joe,
There is a good chance your ECU is the problem.  The best thing to do it pull it out, and check for any damage on the circuit board from leaking capacitors.  Here's some more information on faulty ECUs for older Mitsubishis:

You may also want to check your timing belt.  It's possible your timing belt has slipped (or broke), which will cause your crank angle sensor to be off; hence your check engine light would come on as it did.

Have a mechanic check your timing and also your fuel pump.
Good luck!
