Mitsubishi Repair: O2 Sensor 1995 Mitsubishi Galant S, mitsubishi galant, modern cars

Question
My car has been running rough lately, bucking, etc. I had a local shop hook it up to a diagnostic and it shows a faulty O2 sensor. I want to replace the sensor myself, however the pictures in my Chilton Manual are poor and I can't find the O2 sensor. Where is it and will it be an easy repair?

Answer
Paul,
I believe your car has 2 O2 senors.  Many modern cars do.  There is an upstream and a downstream sensor.  You should find out from your mechanic which he found to be bad.  One O2 sensor is located on the downpipe before the catalytic converter and the second is located after the catalytic converter.

Once you find them, they are pretty straight forward to replace.  You can pick yourself up an O2 sensor socket to help you remove it.  Most any auto store sells them.
Good luck!
