Mitsubishi Repair: oil leakage, valve cover gasket, head gasket

Question
if i accidently got my oil dip stick stuck behind my engine mound after changed a head gasket on a 94 mirage could that be why its leaking oil.

Answer
Jon,
Many things can cause an oil leak when something like a head gasket is replaced because you need to disassemble so much of your engine to get to it.  The dip stick theory is possible, but I would recommend that you clean around your engine very well, drive around until your engine reaches normal operating tempurature, and look around your engine again.

Since your engine compression may have increased because you installed a new head gasket, the higher compression may be forcing some oil out from weaker seals.  If you see oil near the top of your engine, your problem could be the dipstick seal, oil cap gasket, or valve cover gasket.  If you notice oil on your timing belt, the problem is probably coming from the cam seals or the crank seal.  Those are the most common areas places for leaking oil, but you'll need to do a little investigation to pin point where it's actually coming from.
Good luck!
