Mitsubishi Repair: Crankshaft Seal, crankshaft seal, rear seal

Question
2000 Montro Sport 2WD. I had a dealer replace the crankshaft seal(s) on 4/29/05 (was billed for two). On 5/19/05 the fan shroud bolts came out and tore up the A/C belt. I had it towed back to dealer. Service advisor informed me that they only replaced the rear seal and did not touch anything in the front. She told me there is not a seal in the front. Is she correct? Thank you.

Answer
Staci,
From my knowledge of the Montero (as is with most vehicles), your engine does have 2 crankshaft seals.  There is a front seal and a rear main seal.  The rear seal replacement procedure can be very difficult and costly.  Though the labor is very expensive, the cost of the seals are not.  The rear main seal sells for about $25 and the front seal goes for about $8.  Find out exact which seal(s) the service department charged you for, and which one(s) they actually replaced.  You may be able to get credited back a few bucks.
Good luck!
