Mitsubishi Repair: Car too loud on Acceleration, intake leaks, exhaust leaks

Question
I have an automatic 1993 Mitsubishi Expo 2.4L with 134000 miles. Recently changed whole distributor, new spark plugs plus wires, PVC valve, oil change but I notice that this specific model sounds to loud when in 2nd gear going to third. You can tell hear it rev so loud even with windows rolled up. Once you are cruising it is as silent as a cat. It does not show check engine and idle is just about 750 and stable. Passed emissions recently. Is The car is powerful and does not miss or hesitate. I have had the car lifted up to check for exhaust leaks and checks out fine. The noise actually seems to come from engine zone rather than exhaust. Is just the way this car has been manufactured or there's something that needs to be checked out. This is the 1st Expo I have owned (2 months) so if anyone out there has a similar situation or car you can advise me what to do.

Answer
Luiz,
If there was no exhaust leaks (or even intake leaks) found, I would say you're simply hearing the engine for what it is.  An older car with so many miles on it will tend to sound louder due to increased wear on inner engine components, and even from wear on sound dampening around the engine compartment.  I haven't heard from any other Expo owners on the subject of loud acceleration noises.  You may just be noticing this engine noise more because the car is new (to you anyway) and perhaps your previous daily driver vehicle was not as loud.  You could look into getting addition sound dampening material to put around your engine compartment to deaden the sound.  But if the car is running fine, and you think you can live with extra noise, I'd say you're in good shape.
Good luck!
