Mitsubishi Repair: wont start, mitsubishi galant, first signs

Question
i have a 1989 Mitsubishi Galant 4 door sedan . My question is.... why is it when i go to start my car , it makes a clicking noise from a gold box underneath the glovebox? i mess with 2 wires underneath the steering wheel and it'll start sometimes , sometimes i just have to keep turning the key off and on for awhile and then it suddenly catches and starts up? why is it doing this?

Answer
William,
I believe that gold box that is making the clicking noise is your car's computer (ECU).  Read this article for further information:

Usually starting and stalling problems are the first signs that your ECU is malfunctioning.  By turning your key on and off, that is resetting parts of the ECU, which is why it may work sometimes.  Have your ECU inspected for any damage.  It may need to be replaced.
Good luck!
