Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 eclipse spider, convertible top, rear seat

Question
My convertiable roof will not operate, I've checked all the fuses and motors. Is there a relay I should be looking at? When I operate the roof switch all the windows go down like they are supposed to and I hear a clicking which I traced back to a black box mounted behind the rear seat.Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Jack

Answer
Jack,
I believe that box you're seeing behind the seat is your folding top control unit. If the control unit is malfunctioning, your convertible top probably would not retract.  Check your owners manual.  There is probably a crank or scerw you might be able to turn to manually retract your top.  I know the older Eclipse convertibles had this, though I'm not positive about your model.

This is probably something you'd want to have the dealership inspect for you.  It may be something as simple as a loose harness connection, or perhaps a fraid wires. But best to have the until looked at by a technician.
Good luck!
