Mitsubishi Repair: Low Power when Cold, mitsubishi mirage, vacuum lines

Question
Hi Tim

I own a 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage (aka Lancer). The car is a manual and has a 1.5l engine.

The car has no problem starting and runs well when warmed up however when starting it shakes like crazy and doesn't have enough power to get up our driveway.

Somehow the neighbours don't find it as funny as I do taking 6 attempts getting to the road. :)

The car (once warm) has plenty of pep and runs fine however it still idles a tad low. This isn't a big thing to fix however once warm, the engine splutters after turning off the key.

I have a feeling this is to do with the timing? Do you think the other problem (cold starting) could be related or perhaps that's a seperate issue.

Any info would be a great help.
Man I wish I had an electric car. Gotta be less hassle than a gas-guzzler surely.
I know the neighbours would prefer me to have an electric car that's for sure!
:)

Answer
Hi Gavin

You may have 3 possible things i know of that could be causing you this headache,First look and see if the timing has jumped if it has i would correct that on the stalling and sputtering issue. or you have a clogged fuel line will leads to a defect in the fuel filter i would change that out to be sure, and make sure your vacuum lines are ok i've seen a few cars do that until i inspected the lines and find 1 or 2 broken or cracked and had to be replaced.
