Mitsubishi Repair: Horn on a 98 Mitsu Mirage, cold mornings, turning the key

Question
We are sorry, but Ty Gardiner wasn't able to answer your question:

I recently went to start my car on one of the few cold mornings a few weeks ago. As soon as I turned on the key the horn started blaring and stopped as soon as I shut the key. I pulled the electrical component from the box and ran it until 3 days ago. While going through a traffic check a trooper informed me that my inspection was 3 weeks overdue. He was nice enough to let me go 100 yards down the road where a garage I did business with could inspect the car. When the mechanic got no sound from the horn, I got the electrical connection and put it back in. He beeped the horn and it worked the way it was meant to work. I passed the inspection went back through the road block, thanked the considerate trooper and returned home. The next morning, a very comfortable 45 degree morning, I went out, and immediately upon turning the key the horn blared continuously until I shut the key off. I am now driving without a horn and though I have a years reprieve on the inspection bit, feel uncomfortable driving with out a horn.

Answer
Salvatore: Hello. I would say you have a short someplace that is along the wire in which powers the horn. Sometimes the wire is touching something that gives it power and so the horn works then you turn on the key, the ignition and the horn are on the wiring diagram. You need to go back to that shop and get them to check that, could be your horn switch is bad or has a short in it. But this is more for a shop to fix. Hope this helps and good luck!
