Mitsubishi Repair: Please help! My steering got stiffed!, power steering fluid, power steering pump

Question
I was driving last night and when I was going to make a regular turn to the left the steering wheel got stiffed! I barely could make and I could have even got myself in an accident! I am very worried, I thought that it might have been the power steering fluid, but it is not (it is almost at max). I tried today and the steering is still stiff, I can turn it but it is very hard to turn. Please help me!
Thanks in advance, Benito

Answer
Benito,
It sounds like your power steering pump is not operating properly.  Check your belt on your power steering pump.  Your power steering pump is connected by a hose to your power steering fluid reservoir.  If you don't see your the power steering belt turning, then your belt tensioner may not be tight enough.  If your belt is turning, your fluid is full, but it's still hard to turn, you may have a problem with the pump itself.  You may need to replace the pump.  There is also a possibility that your steering rack gears are out of alignment.  That is rare, but possible.

Have your belt and pump checked to make sure everything is operating properly.
Good luck!
