Mitsubishi Repair: Light on dashboard, coolant temperature sensor, radiator overflow tank

Question
I have a 1993 1.8 automatic Eclipse.
There is a yellow light next to the "check engine" light on my dashboard. I haven't been able to find out what it means. It comes on when I start the car after not driving it for a couple of hours. This just recently started happening when the weather got cold. The light only stays on for a couple of minutes and then shuts off. I know the car needs a new tranny... are these 2 connected?

Answer
Sarah,
That yellow light represents your cooling system (radiator, overflow tank, coolant temperature sensor).  It typically comes on when the amount of coolant in your overflow tank is too low.  Get some 50/50 mixture of anti-freeze and water and fill up the overflow tank to the correct amount as indicated in your owners manual.
Good luck!
