Questioni have an 91 mitsu galant vr-4 turbo 5-sp tranny
my question is will a transfer case from an eagle talon AWD, mitsubishi eclipse GSX or plymouth laser AWD fit my galant or do i need a specific galant transfer case. assuming that i get the correct spline count.

First thing you may want to do is check with the dealership to see if your transfer case has ever been changed. About 6 years ago, Mitsubishi issued a safety recall on transfer cases for Eclipses and Galants. If your transfer case is the original from the factory, you may be able to get a brand new one installed for free from the dealership.
And yes, same transfer case from a 91 Galant VR-4 and other AWD 90-91 DSM cars (Eclipse, Talon, Laser) will work. I believe the spline counts on all of them is 22. The later '92 VR-4 (manufacturered in 7/91, used a 23 spline count.
