Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 Mitsubishi Galant, mitsubishi galant, head gasket

Question
I had my thermostat replaced a couple of weeks ago, and my car contines to overheat but the only thing that is hot when I lift the hood is the water in the overflow tank. Also the car cut off on me while I was driving. Right before it cut off I could hear some sort of rattling when I pushed the gas and when I lifted the hood, I could see there was oil all over underneath the engine. Can you at least point me in the right direction, in regards to both of these matters?

Answer
Hi Tammie

You may have a possible coolant blockage restricting the flow to your engine and need to be sure none of the old pieces from the other thermostat isn't stuck in the housing. This oil problem your having is really serious,You could have a possible head gasket blown which can harm the engine if drive the car alot.I would suggest having it looked at soon
