2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-What is the proper way to remove old bulb? I try but it will not turn in the protective ring?

Sometimes dirt can build up around those rings, preventing them from turning easily.  Get a damp sponge with some warm soapy water and carefully clean around it.  Also, I believe the design is such that you cannot merely twist the ring to get the buld loose.  You must either pull out or push in first, before the ring will turn (kind of like a child-proof medicine bottle).  There may be a diagram and procedure listed in your owners manual.  Also, many parts stores like PepBoys or AutoZone may assist you in installing your new bulbs if you buy the bulbs from their store.  But check your owners manual first for any further information.  This should be a job that only takes about 5 minutes.
