Mitsubishi Repair: engine ticking, 2001 mitsubishi mirage, mitsubishi mirage

Question
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage ES with about 50k miles on it.  Though I have kept up with ALL maintenance on the car, the engine has developed a loud "ticking" noise.  Though not always audible, it seems to be the most noticeable when iding.  Is that something I can adjust out, or do I need to have some serious work done by the dealer?

With this ticking noise your hearing during idle it could be something minor like a loose lifter which can be fixed or you have a wornout cam. If your car is still under warranty i would let them take a look at it possible do a diagnois test to it but if it requires labor work just be careful most dealers will honor the warranty and parts for it but they will charge for the labor for the repairs.  Goodluck
