Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Mirage 2001 1.8, spark plug wires, spark plug wire

We were told we needed new wires for our car. They quoted us 160 dollars. When I go to parts I only find ignition wires of 2, saying that 2 and 4 have a coil to the plugs. Are these the two wires I need for the car? The cost is 22 dollars here. I want to make sure I'm buying the correct part for the car. It is a high preformance engine. Thanks. Kathie

There are lots of wires used in your car.  If someone told you that you need new spark plug wires, than you need a set of 4 wires.  Most auto parts stores should have a spark plug wire set for your car.  A mechanic may charge $160 because that includes the parts (about $40 for a spark plug wire set) and $120 in labor.  But installing spark plug wires is easy.  But make sure that is exactly what you need.  You can clearify with the mechanic and also the person that works at the auto parts store.
