Mitsubishi Repair: Parts, conquest starion, mass air flow sensor

Question
I own an '88 Conquest which is the same car as the Starion. I can't find the Mass Air Flow Sensor part that my mechanic thinks that it needs.
I searched the Internet 10 times over.

The car surges back and forth when it gets hot, chugs, and jugs along.  Any ideas.

Would be happy to pick up a manual.  Can't find one of those either.  THANKS.

Answer
Pat,
Here's a site I came across in my serach for Conquest/Starion parts:

Finding a stock replacement for your MAF sensor will be tougher.  Usually, those are only available from a dealership, auto ssalvage yard, or possibly eBay.  The dealership, of course, is the most expensive place and I'd advise against going there.  Call around to any junk yards in your area and see if there have any Conquests on their lots.  Ebay is also a pretty good bet.  Many times, those that sell Conquest parts are parting out the entire car, and you can send an email to the seller asking it they have a MAF for sale.

The symptoms you are describing does sound like there is a possible failure in the mass air flow sensor.  You may also want to have your EGR valve inspected and cleaned.  That can also cause bucking.
Good luck!
