Mitsubishi Repair: transmission, clutch system, clutch cylinder

Question
i would like to know if you get your transmission fix, what else can stop your car from switching gears. the timmin belt is good so that not it. can it be that they didnt fix it right.

Answer
Johnny,
Your timing belt should not effect your ability to shift.  You didn't mention if you had a manual or automatic transmission, the type of car, or year so I can only give you some general information.

If you have a manual transmission, and you're still having problems shifting, your clutch system should be checked.  You may have a broken shift fork, misadjusted shift linkage, bad master/slave clutch cylinder, or even a lack of transmission fluid can cause shifting poblems.  If the mechanic did not fix it correctly, that will indeed cause shifting problems.  Usually that happens if the shift synchronizers were installed improperly.

If you have an automatic transmission, there can be any number of issues causing shifting problems.  It could be anything from lack of fluid, worn accuators, or even a malfunctioning transmission computer.
Good luck!
