Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 Diamonte LS 4dr sedan automatic transmission, magnetic clutch, electical connection

Question
The fuse on my air conditioner get blowing.  We kept replacing it until one day the car just died.  We jump started the car and it ran okay as long as the air wasn't running.  We brought the car to our mechanic who checked the air conditioner but determined that the alternator needed to be replaced.  After the alternator was replaced the air was running great and the car was running fine for a little over a week.  Today, we were at a family function and when we went to leave the car died again.  At the first attempt, the jump didn't work but the second time around it did.  On the drive home, the air was not working and it appeared that the fuse blew.  I've been back and forth to two different mechanics and neither one has been able to repair.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Linda,
It sounds as maybe your air conditioning unit is poorly grounded; the electrical connection is not solid.  You may have a bad A/C relay or the A/C magnetic clutch could be malfunctioning.  If your car requires a jump to get it started, that means your battery is not being charged to a level where it can generate enough current to start your car.  Many times if an alternator is replaced, it's a good idea to have to the battery load tested to be sure it does not need to be replaced as well.  Most garages, including stores like AutoZone, PepBoys and Advanced Auto will test your battery for free.  Your mechanic needs to do a full electical connection test on all wires going from your fuse/relay boxs, alternator, battery and A/C components.  There may just be a bad connection or short circuit in the wiring causing your battery to die and fuses to blow.
Good luck!
