Answer
Jens,
Sorry, I pushed the wrong button on the AllExperts site.  I may have an answer to your problem.

If you have a Haynes or Chiltons service manual for your car, there is fuel pump check switch to verify if your fuel pump is coming on when it should.  It's located near your battery, on the firewall.  The service manual will show you exactly.  But you mentioned that you already checked the pump, and it was operating.  There is a MPI fuse on or near your positive battery cable that allows power to get to your fuel injectors.  Check that fuse to make sure it hasn't blown.  If it has blown, replace it.  Also, if it has blown, that could indicate a bad alternator, or dying fuel pump.  It's also a good idea to replace your fuel filter just as a regular maintenance item.

Also, be sure to check your fuel pressure regulator.  You can check out this website for other helpful tips on diagnosising your problem:
