Mitsubishi Repair: i need to know how much toque pressure each bolt need, mitsubishi galant, mitsubishi engines

Question
1996 mitsubishi galant 2.4l es  I need to know how much pressure in need to put on each bolt for the head and just a little in sight putting the timming belt on.

Answer
Ben,
I don't know the exact torque specs on your specific engine.  For most Mitsubishi engines with aluminum heads, the torque is about 20-25 ft-lbs.  You never want to over-torque them because the aluminum heads can crack very easily.

Timing belts can be very tricky to install if you've never done one.  My recommendation is to get yourself a service manual to guide you.  Both Haynes and Chiltons offer service manuals for your car.  You should also replace your water pump when you replace your timing belt for the first time.  The water pump is only accessible when you pull off your timing belt.  If you brought the car to the dealership to have the timing belt replaced, they may not even replace the belt unless you agree to replace the water pump as well.

So if you do this job, take your time, and get a service manual to help you.
Good luck!
