Mitsubishi Repair: car probs, emergency brake lever, brake fluid reservoir

Question
i drive a 96 mitsubishi galant. okay, so my problem is that when i start up my car now the red emergency brake light comes up when i am driving and even when i am pushing hard on the gas.  after awhile it goes away but it worries me that it could be causing a problem to my engine ot transmission or something. also it "stalls" at times (even thought it is an automatic) i will be at a stop light or stop sign and once i press on the gas it "stalls" and then sometimes it turns off and i have to turn it on again. okay well thank you very much.

Answer
April,
Your two problems may not be related.  Your emergency brake light will only come on for two reasons.  One, it senses that your emergency brake lever is pulled up.  And two, that light will come on when you are low on brake fluid.  Check your brake fluid reservoir (your owners manual will can help you locate it), and if its low you will need to fill it.  You can buy brake fluid at just about any store.

For your stalling problem, you may just need a tune-up.  A tune-up can consist of new air and fuel filters, new spark plugs and plug wires, and a top-off of all your fluids.  Have your mechanic inspect those items for you.
Good luck!
