Mitsubishi Repair: Colt. 1600i GL Auto 92/93, cylinder head gasket, crankshafts

Question
Can anyone let me know if they can resolve my engine problem. I have replaced the cylinder head gasket, timed engine on timing marks, engine will turn freely anti-clockwise but not clockwise. Please let me know asap as urgent. Many thanks.

Answer
Malcolm,
I'm not sure exactly what your problem is, but from my experience, crankshafts are only supposed to be able to turn in one direction.  If you are trying to manually turn the engine yourself, make sure your spark plugs are removed because it would be quite hard to turn your engine in any direction with your plugs in.  Be real careful when turning your engine, because serious problems can arise if your turn it in the wrong direction.  I'm not sure which direction the engine positioned in your car, so I can't tell you if it should be turned clockwise or counter-clockwise.  If you can find one, get yourself a service manual to be absolutely sure you're turning it in the right direction.
Good luck!
