Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 Galant spark plug assembly, spark plug wires, check engine soon light

The Check engine soon light has been coming on intermittently,  the dealer is saying this is the sparkplug assembly and needs to be replaced + 2 spark plugs also something needs to be blown out  and the cost is over 400.00

Anytime you get quoted that much money, you should definitely get a second opinion.  I'm not sure what the dealer means by a "spark plug assembly".  The only thing I can guess he's referring to is the either the distributor (about $670), the distributor cap & rotor ($45), or the ignition coil ($90).  

I'm sure you would have been quoted much higher if it was the actual distributor.  But even if he had to replace a couple spark plugs, some spark plug wires, the distributor cap and rotor, that still shouldn't be $400.  But the dealership will charge the highest price for labor.  I would recommend taking your car to a local mechanic and ask for another quote with the same items that the dealership said you needed.  You'll most likely get a cheaper quote.
