How do i charge the battery for a 1982 honda nighthawk 750?

Go to a local m/c supply shop or dealer and buy a "smart charger" for motorcycles. You don't want to charge a battery more than about 1 amp per hour. After a full charge, have it load tested to see if the cells are all good. If the battery is a standard lead-acid version, be sure it is full of fluid to the full marks. Just add distilled water as necessary. Sealed batteries are maintenance free and cannot be serviced.

These bikes have known charging system issues, usually including defective rotors.
