Motorcycle Repair: CBX carbs, stock air filter, throttle cables

Question
Hi Jan I have recently bought a CBX and have removed the carbs. What a job removing the throttle cable. I need to service the carbs and and then balance them. I hear about jets being pressed into the carb body. Do you have any tips on how I should go about stripping the carbs? Any tips on putting the throttle cables back.Or any manuals/reading material that could help me?
Regards
Gary
P.S. I live in South Africa

Answer
Hi Gary,  Normally the easiest is to remove the carbs with the cables attached.  If your bike has the stock air filter box then the engine has to be tilted in order to get the carbs out.  The book by Mike Nixon is an invaluable help in completing the carb rebuild job.  Good luck,  Jan
