Motorcycle Repair: top end noise, crane cams, roller rockers

Question
QUESTION: Just put a 95 ci kit in my 2003 flstr.  Have run about 25 miles. Installed crane cams & pushrods. Screaming eagle lifters, roller rockers, and high volume oil pump.  After running engine under load.  I get top end noise (like loose tappets).  Adjusted push rods, low end of cam, remove play, and turn down 3 turns.  I did not have the special alignment tool for oil pump, which was recommended in installing instructions with pump.  All oil pump alignment checked and o rings replaced.

After shut down, and 5 minutes restart, no noise until I drive bike under load, then at stop I have the top end noise again.

Any thoughts??

Thanks for your help...

ANSWER: the cams you installed, are they gear driven or chain driven?

QUESTION: Gear driven..

Answer
The gear driven cams are going to make more noise than the chain driven cams, so you might be hearing that.
If you still think its the lifters try backing off each pushrod about 1/2 turn and see if that doesnt help.
Good luck and happy riding
