Motorcycle Repair: no key for a 1971 CL350, honda cl350, scrambler 350

Question
I was recently given my neighbors 350 Honda , that they had stored in their backyard since 1981...
they did not have a key , but I would like to know what wires I would cross ,just to see if I can get it to fire up.it has good compression, Ive lubricated the throttle cables, will be draining the gas and cleaning out the floatbowls before I try to firs it up..
thanks for any help.

Answer
Joe.....   Check eBay auctions for pre-cut keys, once you get the key number from the edge of the ignition switch. There are also aftermarket switches online, as well.

Honda 350 carbs are VERY fussy and just draining the bowls is probably not going to get the desired results.

All of the o-rings, emulsion tubes, jets and gaskets need cleaning/replacing, along with a check of the top slide diaphragms. Kits are available, but you need to know the carb series which is stamped on the body, just above the carb inlet/air filter connection. Each carb series has different jetting and float levels.

Basically, to hot-wire the bike you need to connect the RED and BLACK wires together.

Install a fresh battery, so you don't wind up damaging the wiring/charging system and headlight.
