Motorcycle Repair: 1984 Honda CM450E, honda cm450e, aluminum strip

Question
The othernight my girlfriend came home with her Honda 450 and said that the battery was dead...she had been able to push start the bike and it ran fine after that, but there was no lights or electrical devices at all (starter, horn, turn signals, lights or brakelights)  She got it home and I know enough that I was able to determine that the battery was still charged and that there was power as far as the left side cover...I checked the three fuses there and they are all find...wow....where do I go from here besides taking it to an expensive shop?  I sure could use some help....Rick

Answer
Rick,There may be a main fuse on top of the starter solenid the may have burned out. Some of the older Hondas had a small aluminum strip across the top that looks like a small wrench that actually is a fusible link for the main system, starter, horn, turn signals lights ect.
