Motorcycle Repair: Backfire, twin cam 88, sparkplug

Question
Hi Mike, I have an 02 softail twin cam 88 37000km. I start it in morning full with choke, let it run while I get on my riding gear, jump on and I'm off. Recently started to backfire when applying throttle going through the gears. Seams to be fine after warm up.

Answer
Sounds like your leaving the choke on to long. If you leave it on to long you can fould a sparkplug. Once the bike warms up it burns off the carbon. You only want to use the choke long enough to get the bike started. Once it starts close it partway, just to keep it running. Try that and see if that doesnt work
Good luck and happy riding
