Car Alarms: 2003 Subaru LL Bean Keyless Remote, original equipment manufacturer, subaru outback

Question
I appreciate the response. Though I may do exactly what you suggested, I also wonder if it would work okay to just buy a used (or new) Subaru remote and program it. If I did that, how would I find out what remote would be compatible with my car - in other words, what I do I need to know about the FCC ID# and part # to make a perfect match? Thanks again for your help.

-----Question-----
I just purchased a 2003 Subaru Outback LL Bean wagon via eBay. I've been told it doesn't have the keyless remote which originally came with the auto. I also understand that this auto has a security system. What is your suggestion as to the best and cheapest way to replace that remote? Thanks, Norman
-----Answer-----
Ok, that's easy. The factory alarm works when
the door lock an unlock are actived by a remote.
We can have the best of both worlds here.
While still using the factory alarm, you can add
a decent remote system to cotrol the locks for
under 50.00 rather then spend the 170.00
for a new one at Subaru.

Go to my site at www.KEYLESSCAR.com and
see the ASTRA 50 deluxe keyless.

You can do the install yourself and save 50.
bucks easy on labor, but the system will only cost you 44.95 + s&h right now.

Works better then the OEM ever did, and will give you
another 150 feet of range over the OEM piece as well.

Let me know and we'll ship one out to you ASAP.

Have a look.

Answer
You would contact the dealership and ask them
about the OEM part # and replacement/programming
costs. Without the original remote, there's no
telling from your perspective to disern what you
have there.

Call Subaru on Monday to find out.
