Motorcycle Repair: Blown Fuse, honda goldwing gl1000, blown fuse

Question
I just purchased a 1978 Honda Goldwing GL1000. Carbs have been rebuilt, ran ok until last ride. It stalled in my driveway and would not restart. I noticed the oil light comes on but not the neutral light.

I had a 1979 cx500 that once a year a fuse under the seat would blow. My question is if the same thing happened to the goldwing where is the fuse as it is not under the seat as on the 500.

Answer
If the neutral light does not come on, the starter will not engage.  There may be an override in the clutch lever, try starting while holding the clutch in...  I would check on why the neutral light is not coming on, usually this is a broken or disconnected wire from the neutral light switch, located somewhere under a case on the transmission.  The wire is usually green with a red stripe (on a CBX at least) check that it is connected, and then with an ohm-meter check the functionality of the switch itself.  sometimes they stick and can be overhauled, but they are typically not expensive to replace.  Hope this helps,  Jan
