Motorcycle Repair: 1999 CBR600F4- wont start, honda cbx1000, sparkplugs

Question
Sir,

I do understand you normally work with the Honda CBX1000+ I was hoping maybe you could help with a '99 CBR600F4 or point me in the right direction.

I was running...now it is not. At first I thought it was a weak battery.  The battery would not keep a charge, so I got a new one.  When I push the start button, you can hear the starter, but it sounds like nothing is firing.

What is the best way to trouble shoot.  I do not want to waste time working on something that is ok when I could have been working on the real problem.  I am thinking I need to at least replace the sparkplugs.  Just thought I would try asking an expert before I started taking things apart.

Thank you for your time.

Answer
What happened exactly between it running and now not running?  In order for the engine to work you need compression, fuel and a spark at the right time.  Unlikely that all spark plugs fouled.  Does the bike crank over OK and sound normal?  Does it attempt to fire?  Check that you are getting a spark, normally no spark is due to malfunctioning ignition switch or kill switch.  Let me know,  Jan
