Motorcycle Repair: 83 Honda cb750, honda night hawk, honda nighthawk 750

Question
I have to replace the throttle cables on my '83 Honda Nighthawk 750 and was wondering about how much it would cost to take to a honda dealer to have replaced and if i should go somewhere else to do it. I am not comfortable doing it myself although it seems like an easy fix. Thank you in advance

Answer
Hi Kevin,
It is likely an easy repair, you may need some assistance though. Perhaps purchasing the cables and checking with a local Vo-Tech school for installation. They may be able to do the work for little or no cost, there is the possibility that the students and/or the instructor may not be able to do it correctly also. An independent cycle repair shop may be the best option. You can look at some information online, there are several places that have online diagrams. One of these is listed below. A service manual will be very helpful if doing the work yourself.

The two cables may cost near $100 including tax. If the Honda place does the work you will likely be looking near this much in labor too.
