Motorcycle Repair: Carb Leak, honda twinstar, overflow tube

Question
I found a 79 Honda Twinstar 185cc that sat for the last 15 years with a full tank of fuel.  Had the tank acid washed, plus did the basics and installed a new Carburetor.  Old gal fired right up, I adjusted the throttle and the engine purrs.  A short drive gave me a lot of hope this is a strong old bike (tire rotted, not too long of a drive).
When I got back from the drive gas was dripping out of the drain pipe under the float chamber.  I tightened down a set screw near the bottom of the float chamber that I assumed is for the drain but gas continues to drip at a pretty steady rate.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Dave,
A possibility is the float level is too high and it is coming from the bowl overflow tube. You can install a clear fuel hose about 8-12 inches long on the drain nipple, hold the free end of the hose above the carb and open the drain screw. This should indicate how much fuel is in the bowl. If it's too high and leaking from the bowl overflow tube you will have to adjust the float level down, maybe 1mm and try it again.

Terry.
