Motorcycle Repair: starting problems, electric fuel pump, yamaha virago 535

I am having problems starting my 1993 yamaha virago 535 I have fuel and power.  I shot some starting fluid and it started.  can you give me an idea of what to do

Rudy, This particular bike uses an electric fuel pump to deliver fuel to the carb.  When you first turn on the key you shoud here the pump run for about 3-5 seconds untill it pressure up the system. If it does'nt it could be a fuse it could be a pump relay of worst case a bad fuel pump. These can run as much as $400.00.
