Motorcycle Repair: 1991 suzuki gsxr 1100, suzuki gsxr 1100, long distances

Question
what could cause my motor to start clicking. no power loss.was running perfect when it started

Answer
It's difficult to say, many things in the engine can make unusual noises when things go wrong. Is the clicking a steady click that follows the engine RPM, does it sound like its coming from the exhaust or intake side of the engine, cylinder head or crankcase? Has something been done recently to the engine, exhaust or intake? Do you ride wheelies for long distances or do stunts? How many miles do you have on the machine?
It could be the cam chain/tensioner, lifter clearance, or excessive wear on something internal. Are you familiar with a mechanics stethoscope; you can use it to help locate where clicking is coming from.
