What do you suggest/  Thanks Dan

Answer
Its not your valve springs. They dont usually make a knocking sound. There are two places that you get a knocking sound. One is the rod bearing, but that doesnt start and then go away. The other place is the lifters. It sounds to me like a lifter collapsing or not pumping up. First you need to figure out which one is havng the problem. Start and run the bike. When the knocking starts shut it off and check the pushrods. The one that is knocking will have alot of up and down play. You can attempt to readjust it, but if that doesnt work you will have to replace the lifter.
Good luck and happy riding
