Motorcycle Repair: steering head bearings lubrication, grease gun, sportster 1200

mike, i have a 2001 hd sportster 1200 custom, would like to know the proper way to lubricate my steering head bearings, thanx in advance, dennis kranes

Look on the side of the neck and see if you have a grease fitting. Some models have one and some dont. Not sure why they all dont. If you have one then squirt some geease in with a grease gun. About 2 pumps.
If you dont then you are going ot have to pull the front end to get to the bearings. You will have to pull the forks off and then the top triple tree will have to come off so you can slide the bottom of the triple off to get to the lower bearing. Then you clean both the bearings and regrease them and reinstall.
